Celebrating 25yrs of Dance!...
Miss Shandell
25yrs celebrating the Love of Dance.....I love my job! I started teaching as a young teenager at Lockyer Waters and then in Gatton .My Mum Sylvia Leschke who has now passed was my support who together we started the Starlite Dancers.I adore children and really enjoy dancing with my ladies/diva's.
I focus on teaching each student to feel they are special and dreams can come true,Everyone "is a star "at Starlite Dancers and each week we enjoy the thrill of dancing on a stage.I encourage all dancers of all ages to develop skill and memories that will last a lifetime.
I am married to Grant and we are blessed with five children and one grandson who together enjoy the Love of the arts and music,our dance studio is like a family and we love the support and the team spirit we have at our studio's.,I look forward each week to expressing my excitement of dance to others and as dance and stage work is part of my soul, I cannot wait for you to see our performers experiencing "The Love Of Dance" on stage in our Starlite Dancers Annual Concert

Stage Makeup – 2 coats of foundation, (apply one coat then allow to dry and then another for a matted stage make up look), blush, eyeshadow brown on lid and white up to brow, bright pink lipstick.
Hair: Juniors : using fine hair ties - hair in two side ponytails and plated (refer to facebook page) Intermediate and Seniors – two braids (section down part and using fine hair ties).

Please indicate below if you intend to order one or both videos, so that I can book the videographer on that day.

Starlite Burlesque Dance Class;
What should I wear to class?
Wear whatever you can move around in freely that makes you feel sassy and inspired. It should also be something you won't mind getting a bit sweaty. For some people that means fishnets and a cute camisole. For others that means yoga pants and an old camp t-shirt. Generally, the people who wear something flirty tend to get more out of the workshops. Heels are an asset, but not mandatory. Above all, dress so that YOU feel comfortable. -- if you have them. If you don't, we can usually work around it.
Burlesque is very embracing of all body types. It doesn't matter what size you are; it's all about living with verve and taking a bold step to try something new!
I've never danced before. Is this going to be too hard for me?
NO. Each workshop goes step by step so it's easy for anyone to follow along. Everyone comes away saucier and so will you!

The class allows students to comfortably explore an art form that is challenging in both body and mind. You will find yourself having plenty of fun .....

What should I wear to class?
Wear whatever you can move around in freely that makes you feel sassy and inspired. It should also be something you won't mind getting a bit sweaty. For some people that means fishnets and a cute camisole. For others that means yoga pants and an old camp t-shirt. Generally, the people who wear something flirty tend to get more out of the workshops. Heels are an asset, but not mandatory. Above all, dress so that YOU feel comfortable. -- if you have them. If you don't, we can usually work around it.
Burlesque is very embracing of all body types. It doesn't matter what size you are; it's all about living with verve and taking a bold step to try something new!
I've never danced before. Is this going to be too hard for me?
NO. Each workshop goes step by step so it's easy for anyone to follow along. Everyone comes away saucier and so will you!

Great Performance! Starlite Performance Team Shines!
Thank you to all dancers who performed today at the Under 8's day in Gatton.Two shows entertained large crowds who were thrilled to see such variety of dancing,little pretty ballerina's,hip hop boys in action,fireworks jazz girls and Intermediate girls wowed the audience with their strutting and energetic performance.Awesome dancers...

Brooke Grills boom boom powed the audience! Well done!Jazz,Contempory & Novelty solo's....
Imogen Reisenleiter was like Dynamite in her Jazz solo.....
Jodie Barkle & Imogen Reisenleiter tapped their little feet right '"Üptown" and received highly commended in their tap duo ....
Kate Jahnke & Imogen Reisenleiter got "Down" and groovy in their jazz duo and received highly commended....
Jazz Group 10yrs and under the Adjudicator said "looked great,nice effect,Isolations developing".....Great work girls!
Tap Group 8yrs and under broke some hearts today with their sweet performance and received a highly commended. Fantastic!
Ballet group 8yrs and under looked beautiful,nice expressions... especially when we get to take home a highly commended!

Saturday 16th July at the Gatton Show the performance teams will be presenting two entertainment shows 11.30 and 1.30pm and then competing in Solo,duo and group items at the Toowoomba Eisteddfod held at the Empire Theatre 22nd,23rd & 24th July. I encourage you to support our talented dancers by attending.
Wednesday 13th July Extra Eisteddfod team class 3.30 to 4.30pm Juniors....
This term and next will be very busy preparing for our End Of Year Concert on
Saturday 10th December All students
Gatton Shire hall,Helidon studio matinee and Gatton studio evening Concert.
Dress rehearsal & Photo Day is Sunday 4th December Compulsary ,All students
Our theme this year is sure to be an exciting and rewarding experience!
The concert theme is
“Magical Disney”...”Believe,Ïnspire,Dance”.....

Costume Fees & Hire Fees for the forth coming Performances ,Eisteddfods and End Of Year Concert are as the following ,if you have made costume instalments ,please finalise the balance owing for the dances /routines.
These same costumes will be used for the upcoming Performances,Eisteddfods & this years End Of Year Concert.
Our Costume Team have been busy getting Costumes ready for Saturday’s performance, so prompt payment is appreciated .
All costumes will be given out at the show on Saturday.

COSTUMES FOR Forthcoming Eisteddfod's and performances are already in preparation. First costume Meeting to be held on Wednesday morning 9am 22nd June to discuss Costumes at Miss Shandell's home 394 Old Toowoomba rd,Placid hills.
Anyone interested in being involved in being part of our Costume team are most welcome to attend.
Miss Shandell would appreciate any help with the sorting out of costumes from last years concert and costume barrells, putting together each groups costumes for forthcoming shows and eisteddfods and concert.
Our costume co-ordinator will be present so will give you all a chance to meet Joann and share in the excitement of our forthcoming events...

This year, things will be a little different to that in the past. Please see following how it is going to work:

I will be co-ordinating the costumes for 2011, as well as looking after the money side of things. Therefore, all payments for costumes and Starlite/dancewear orders will go through me.

Qld's Ballet world's largest ballet Class
My ballerina's stood out today at the ballet class in Brisbane attending a ballet class to break the Guinness World record.The girls were photographed and on lookers "öoed & arghed... ären't you beautiful ballerinas!
Miss Shandell was so proud,Well done girls....
Matilda,Zoe,Brooke,Ella & Imogen
It was a sea of tu-tus and tights at the State Library of Queensland as hundreds gathered to challenge the world record for the largest ballet class.
Generations of ballerina's donned the ballet slippers, leggings and leotards on Sunday to challenge the record, previously set by 1,055 participants in Hannover in Germany.
Organised by the Queensland Ballet Company, as part of Brisbane's Ideas Festival, the event drew 1,359 people to beat the previous record
The event was to be held on the Kurilpa Bridge, South Brisbane, but due to the wet weather, a quick relocation, to the State Library of Queensland saw five levels of young and old undertake a 30 minute bar Class.

Participating in the performing arts is one of the most memorable parts of a dancers training.
These performances are a wonderful way of encouraging your child in her dance endeavours.
Consideration for a “spot” in our performance team and is based on your child attending 2 classes/ week. Tuesday and the allocated Monday practises this term.

Starlite Dancers Classes available in C.S.T.D Exam work
These examinations are a wonderful way of encouraging your child in her dance endeavours. An accredited examiner of the C.S.T.D will come to Gatton in October and your child will perform her regular class work for her. She will receive a certificate and report from the examiner.

Welcome from the Starlite Costumes department for 2011!!
This year, things will be a little different to that in the past. Please see following how it is going to work:
CO-ORDINATING & FINANCE
I will be co-ordinating the costumes for 2011, as well as looking after the money side of things. Therefore, all payments for costumes and Starlite/dancewear orders will go through me.
Payments will only be accepted by direct deposit, either via online banking, or at your nearest Heritage Building Society Branch. These bank account details are:

Some beautiful Mums took on the task to help our students look fabulous at our concert in 2010. We are hoping that these lovely Mums from 2010, plus other interested parents, may be available to make up our Starlite Costumes Team. If you are interested please contact me.
INSTALMENTS AND COSTS
$20 per student per term, non-refundable will be invoiced to each family in terms 1, 2 & 3. These instalments will be used to reduce your final costumes costs for the end of year concert.
Final costume costs for the end of year concert are expected to be calculated nearing the end of Term 3. This will give plenty of time for final balances to be paid by mid Term 4.
STARLITE & DANCEWEAR ORDERS
Orders for Starlite shirts and jackets, and the new pink/black studio leotard can be taken. Please see below the standard order form. Please note that all payments will need to be made directly into the costumes bank account shown above. Prices are set out on the order form. Please remember no orders will be filled unless payment has been received. Dance Fees
Thank you to all Parents & students for promptly paying Term 1 dance fees,you received the discounted rate.
From this week on all fees paid are $9.50 per 45 min class,$9 per half hour $12 per hour $5 per 15min class,dancers rate $30 per wk,family rate $40 per wk.
The discounted rate now does not apply to all fees not finalised by the 3rd week of term or enrolment.
Term 1 is for 11 weeks or when new student started.
Please let Miss Shandell as soon as possible if you did not receive your invoice for term 1.

Welcome back to another exciting year at Starlite Dancers. I hope that you all had a restful break and are raring to go again!!
My heartfelt well wishes go to all of those affected by the flooding here in our Lockyer Valley.
From everyone at Starlite Dancers I wish you a great year with us. If you have any concerns that need to be addressed, I encourage you to make a note in the parent's book located in the front foyer or by email and I will contact you as soon as I possibly can.
Classes are now closed to a viewing audience and the next allocated time for Parents & friends of the studio to view classes and students dance progress will be advised.
INVOICES AND NEWSLETTERS
Dance fees are due next week to receive the discounted rate.
Invoices and Newsletters will be emailed where possible. Your invoices will be sent out in the next week - please let Miss Shandell know if you do not receive your dance fee invoice. Sometimes invoices will go into your "spam" folder and so you will need to add Miss Shandell/Starlite Dancers/Joann Sutton as a trusted name.
FEE STRUCTURE (2011)
Class fee includes tuition fee and study levy fee.
Registration fee of $20 per year per student, non refundable, to be paid prior to attending any classes at the studio.
Termly fees are preferred and will receive the below discount if paid on or by the 3rd week of term.
$8.50 per 45 min class,$8 per half hour,$11 per hour,$4 per 15min class.Class Group Dancers rate $28 per wk,family rate $38 per week
Weekly fees or fees paid after the 3rd week of term are $9.50 per 45 min class,$9 per half hour $12 per hour ,$5 per 15min class,dancers rate $30 per wk,family rate $40 per wk.
Private Lessons Half hour tuition fee $15.
Concert extra rehearsals/extra classes /Viewing Performance $10 per student.
Starlite performance team class not included in rate fees an extra $10 per class.
Funk and Guest teachers workshops $10 to $15 per class.
MISSED LESSONS
Children who miss class due to family commitment or illness are welcome to attend a make up class at another time, however, no refund for classes missed will be offered.
Costume fee – end of year performance $20 per term non refundable for term 1, 2 & 3/per class/per student will be charged to you – any credit balance/amount owing will be adjusted in term 4
All fees are to be put in cane fee box and payment sheet to be filled out with invoice number stated.
